Code Pink – Sunday Interview with Medea Benjamin

We were very fortunate to interview Medea Benjamin, dedicated activist, Code Pink Founder, and author of “Drone Warfare: Killing By Remote ControlInterview with Medea. “ The attached picture is of Medea, Seizing Power Director, Dave Kasper and Producer, Wendy White, in front of Medea’s home. The Code Pink color scheme was carried out from the front door, through the colorful and lively home, to the shirt she wore that day.

The interview focused on the evolution of Drone Warfare and the impact on the people and communities we target. She was able to debunk a lot of the political rhetoric around “surgical strikes, collateral damage, Terror Tuesdays and Obama’s Kill list. She shared personal stories of her travels in Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan and her observations and conversations with the victims. The most striking fact is that this program is not helping us bring an end to the war on terror, but that the drone program is actually breeding more people who hate America and feel that the only way the can protect themselves or avenge their families is to align with terrorists groups. The end result is the perpetuation of a cycle of endless warfare.

DC Interviews – Bruce Fein and Tim Lynch

Bruce Fein Interview

On Thursday we interviewed Bruce Fein, Attorney, specializing in Constitutional and International Law. After a two and a half hour session, we walked away with some great footage detailing the history of the Constitution and how we are in the process of losing our inalienable rights in the name of “keeping us safe from terrorism.” Here’s an interesting fact, his first job out of law school at age 27, was to work with the committee to impeach President Nixon after the Watergate scandal. He said that after that experience, everything else in his career came easily. He is currently working with Lon Snowden on one of the biggest whistleblower cases in our history.

We headed to the CATO Institute on Friday to interview Tim Lynch, Attorney and Director of the Project On Criminal Justice. He shared his knowledge around the militarization of police and how the Pentagon is providing surplus military equipment to local police. The danger is that a soldier’s job is to go in and create as much havoc and damage as possible on the target. A local officer’s job was established to keep peace and order. When the local police become more militarized, they tend to take on more of the military mentality.
